Alexis Bistro & Wine Bar, Garden Midvalley

Alexis is one of my favourite restaurant in my 2nd home, Garden Midvalley.

The restaurant has been blogged many times and you can find many instragram about this place.
They are famous for their cake. But other food is not bad too. (^_^)

And need to mention that I meet Lee Chong Wei relaxing here with his friend. I did not disturb him as it should be hard for him to find time to relax.

 Now back to the food.

The main attraction is their Pavlova (Meringue) and Tiramisu.
The Pavlova is perfect combination of cream, meringue, strawberry and blueberry.
The Tiramisu is different from other Tiramisu. Alexis add caramalised almond to the cake. The coffee powder also missing from the cake. Replaced by strawberry syrup that is serve together with the cake.

Yuzu Restaurant, Mid Valley

Well Yuzu is not really the first choice as I really have try most of their menu. But things sometimes just won't work the way you hope it work.

Me and my friend went to il Primo first and been told that il Primo is closed for business. (=_=!)

I have not try their macarone, rabbit stew etc.

My friend suggest to go Sage, Garden Mid Valley. Another nice dining restaurant that I never been to. So off we go zip zap thru the traffic jam from Jalan Conlay all the way to Mid Valley.

When we arrive at Sage, with a hungry stomach, the reception told us that they are fully booked for the night. (=_=!!!)

Not having energy to go any other place, we decide to find a restaurant nearby for the dinner.

So Yuzu is the choice. And lucky for us, when we arrive there is still empty table for us. We did not order from the menu and we ask for the Course Menu. The waiter need to get the boss to serve us. Kind of make me feel like I am VVIP (^__^)
Of course the boss is more knowledgeable in the thing we ask and we settle for a 5 course meal for RM120 per pax. If you willing to pay more, then the meal will be grander with caviar, foie gras, etc.

First on the table is appetizer. As usual Yuzu presentation of food is always impressive. From left to right, Tamago, Enoki with Golden Spinach and Butter Fish with Wasabi Mayo. A simple combination but 1+1 does not mean it must be 2.

The next is the sashimi. Shiro Maguro (白鲔鱼), Otoro Sashimi (上腹黑鮪魚), Salmon Sashimi (三文魚刺身), Suzuki Salshimi (立魚刺身), Hiramasa Sashimi. Well only one piece of sashimi for each type. Kind of too less but considering the price we pay, we can't complain much I guess. So next time I maybe will go for RM200 per pax. If I get my end year bonus. :P

Avocado Gratin. The presentation of this dish is good. And this is the first time I taste Avocado. Not as bad as what I imagine. In fact I find it taste good. Soft and buttery. The Avocado is dig out from the shell and fry together with chicken, fish etc and baked again with Mayo. A very tantalizing experience. Maybe they should put this in the menu.

Oyster Aburiyaki. Oyster after grilled have a different kind of taste. A good change to the usual fresh Oyster that I have eat. The special Yuzu sauce goes very well with the oyster too.

At this point I am talking to my friend that 5 course meal dun seems to satisfy our hunger. Because this is the 4th meal. Luckily the Boss come to attend us and ask are we satisfy with the meal so far. Of course she assure us that there will be sushi and dessert in the end. (^_^)

Next on the table is Beef Kushiyaki and Yakisana. This I feel is a bit of let down as too plain simple compare to previous 4 dish. Not showing the creativity of the chef here.

Plus the last beef is a bit too raw for my tasting. Can see it is bloody red with some red blood water on the dish plate. ><

Next is the sushi roll with Asari Miso Soup. Unagi, Fish Roe and Mango sushi. The Mango Sushi is a surprise. I guess the chef got the idea from Thailand Mango Rice. It does mix well with other ingredient and taste good. (^_^)

The miso soup taste is great too with large clam inside. \(^_^)/ I love the soup.

The last serving for our dinner is the Fruits and Green Tea Ice Cream. I believe their green tea ice cream is home made. Not something you can get from the store.

Yuzu Restaurant MidValley

I have always love Yuzu food. Fresh sashimi and their ikura taste is heavenly. Ikura that melt in the mouth with a little bit of saltiness that reminds you the taste of ocean. Heavens

Now Yuzu has gone thru some renovation since my last blog about it. The wooden panel on the left handside of the restaurant is refurbish to show a small sushi bar.

The interior decoration has change with kimono hanging on the wall, more plant decoration.

The menu also have new comer but lesser choice for set menu.

Anyway lets start with the new dish that I try. The Yuzu Volcano Sushi.

This dish is recommended to me by another blogger Ms Jazz. And it is really good. A must try

Next dish is the Saikoro Wagyu Beef

I remember this is the same dish that I order in my previous blog, and it really don't taste as good as before. I remember the beef use to feel like it is melting in my mouth. Something that no other beef steak can match no matter how tender is the beef steak. But of course this do not means it is not good. It is still one of the best beef you will ever try.

My Unagi set with Soba Mee in cute little bamboo bowl. The Unagi taste is one of the best I ever had. The sauce they use is very thick and exquisite taste.

This is call Saba Kuwayaki with fresh egg. According to my friend, it taste is bad and it is too oily.

Teriyaki chicken that is order by my friend, taste is very good. I try one small piece, and find that it is still as good as before. (^^)

For dessert, I order this Green Tea Mochi. It is unlike mochi that I have try before.
This one is more sticky but not so soft. And you can taste the rice.

So conclusion, Yuzu is still the best Japanese restaurant for me. (^___^)

Garden Restaurant at Garden Midvalley.

Kind of confusing title right. There is a restaurant name Garden Restaurant in One Utama. Now it opening a new branch in Midvalley. Near the bridge between Garden and Midvalley.

I have always wanted to try this restaurant in One Utama, but always something happen. Anyway, this time I got the chance to try their branch in MidValley.

Just like the name suggest, this restaurant theme is a garden style restaurant.
So you will have the feel of sitting in garden and have a high tea. It will be better if the floor is also grass. Coz I love to step on soft grass with my bare feet. (^^)

Now the food is really so so. The chef did try to think of new kind of food for the menu and the taste is not bad. But not that fantastic.

This is the Mix Fruit Tea. It sounds better when I read it in the menu. But taste really not that great. I did not finish it even though I am thirsty.

The mushroom cream soup is nice. Some restaurant will prepare this soup with more cream and just a few piece of mushroom. Garden Restaurant choose to include more mushroom inside which is good. I like it.

Ham sandwich is really plain. Not much suprise here.

This is the salmon fish steak with orange sauce. A really special dish that I really never seen something familiar in any other restaurant. Taste is surprisingly unexpected. Because orange and salmon don't seems to match.

Conclusion, I would give them a 3 star. Good Environment, Food is not bad.

Food of Devils - 2

A few weeks back, I pass thru a Sushi Shop that say they got a 30% off promo on Salmon Sashimi. I went in and try it. For RM30, they give 5 slice of thick Salmon Sashimi serve on top of ice and freshly grated wasabi. Compare to Salmon Sashimi that I tasted before, these slice is thicker and bigger. So it do commensurate to it's price. And I am very suprise by the presentation of the sashimi.

And so I promise myself "I'll be back"

This week I find friends to go and try it again with me. The shop name is Yuzu Japanese Restaurant. Situated just below MyYoga in Garden MidValley Kuala Lumpur. It is hard to be miss.

First I try the Salmon Sashimi. The one I choose this time not only include salmon but also belly salmon sashimi and Ikura (Salmon roe). The presentation of the sashimi is certainly the best I have seen from the many other restaurant that I visit.

The Ikura is small but very soft and tasty. Almost feel like it melt in my mouth and the sweet taste of sea fill my mouth. The salmon belly sashimi and salmon sashimi both taste fresh. Presented on top of

Next to come is the teriyaki chicken set

The teriyaki chicken is very different from the normal teriyaki sauce chicken. Yuzu chef have mix the normal teriyaki sauce with malt sugar to give the thick mixture that is not found in normal teriyaki chicken.

Next to come is my friend Salmon BBQ Wagyu Saikoro Beef set.

The black pepper use for the BBQ set seems to be of higher quality and is more aromatic giving a better taste for the salmon.

The wagyu beef taste fabulous. The normal beef steak no matter how tender it is cooked it will still be hard to chew. This beef felt like it melt in the mouth with the juice flowing out of the beef that is cut in cube.

Having try the mouth watering beef but just 4 piece is too little for us. So we decide to order more and also order another grilled Unagi.

The Unagi do not hold any surprises but it still taste great. The wagyu beef, still the great taste

That conclude my visit to this shop. It is quite expensive but worth it as the quality and presentation of the food is certainly higher compare to the normal Japanese sushi shop. And I definitely will be back again to try the wagyu beef again.
