Tokyo Trip - Eat Pray Love - Day 5 - Odaiba

Plan for the day : Odaiba.
One day trip at Hakone and then back to Shinjuku.
Map of Odaiba : http://www.japan-guide.com/g3/3008_map_05.gif
Odaiba one day itinerary : Take a subway to Shimbashi Station
Take the Yurikamome Line to Odaiba Kaihinkoen
Have a walk at Beach
-> Decks Tokyo Beach -> Aquacity -> Odaiba Seaside Park (Remember to take the Liberty Statue photo here) ->
Fuji TV Station -> Diver City (The Gundam replica is here) -> Pallette Town (Toyota showroom)

Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan, across the Rainbow Bridge from central Tokyo. It was initially built for defensive purposes in the 1850s, dramatically expanded during the late 20th century as a seaport district, and has developed since the 1990s as a major commercial, residential and leisure area. Odaiba is develop as Tokyo Teleport Town, a showcase for futuristic living, with new residential and commercial development housing a population of over 100,000. The  building here has very futuristic look.

Today planned is greatly hurt by many incident. Odaiba plan is suppose to be at evening. In the morning it is to go Museum Ghibli and Kichijoji. Also the weather is raining the whole day with the raining going heavier as the night is closer.

Anyway, no plan is perfect. Even though I did a lot of research to make sure it. But still this is a very enjoyable trip to Odaiba.

I have a very good sleep and thus wake up earlier than expected. Did not go to Odaiba right away as most of the attraction did not begin that early. Instead I start the day with a short walk around the hotel to check out the surrounding. Pass by a children playground that looks so familiar from the Japanese drama and anime. The water pipe for example feel like from anime Slam Dunk. And the play sand area, looks like from the anime Crayon Shin Chan.

For anyone that wonder how to follow the sign in subway, well above is a few example of common sign. As you can see, you need to remember which train line you need to take to your destination. So when you do research, check out on this to avoid getting lost.

The Yurikamome daily pass is recommended if you plan to get onto the train for more than 4 times. If you have clear destination like only go to Diver City for the Gundam robot, then you can get the ticket to your station only. One Piece has an upcoming movie and thus lots of poster to promote the movie. Even the ticket is printed with One Piece.

Japanese people like to create a stamp for almost anything. If you want a cheap souvenir, bring a handbook and gather each stamp like this on the book. It will be like a passport that record down where you been to.

Reach the train station. And notice the train in the picture is the Yurikamome line.

There is drizzling rain when I reach Odaiba, thus I did not went to the beach and come to Decks right away. Joypolis is the destination here. Reason? See next photo.

Real car that I can get on and drive. Which car that I choose? I choose to drive the AE86 of course.

On my way leaving the Joypolis I notice some celebrities that visit this arcade left their signature here. I can find Michael Jackson and Leornardo DiCaprio signature. The rest is someone that I don't know.

The rain seems to stop. I go out to the Deck for a photo at the famous Rainbow Bridge. This bridge is the shooting location for a number of Japanese drama.

Found an old pachinko machine at Deck here. The Japanese is very addicted to the pachinko game and annual revenue from these machine is enormous. Pachinko is very similar to slot machine in the western country.

Also pass by the CocaCola store. And notice a cute vending machine inside the store.

Totoro corner. My favourite Totoro. How I wish to bring you home. But all these soft toys is Made in China but wear the Japan price tag. Too expensive for me to bring you home.

Hello Kitty store. I guess Hello Kitty fans can shop till bankrupt in Japan. Coz the number of things you can get here is so much.

My stomach bring me to a nearby ramen food court. My first ramen I had in Tokyo. Let's see what the different compare to ramen that I can had in Malaysia.

This is the shop I choose for my lunch today.

Because I see lots of signature at the wall. Looks like this ramen shop is very famous and many celebrities like to dine here.

The ramen taste good. The soup is much more tastier compare to Malaysia.

Took another photo of the Rainbow bridge from the deck near the ramen shop.

Next stop is the Fuji TV Station.

At the front door, can see a stall selling the fishball from One Piece.

One Piece character inside the TV station souvenir store.

Odoru Daisōsasen《大搜查线》 is very famous in Japan but not in Malaysia.

Takuya Kimura (木村 拓哉) new drama Priceless.

Another drama that is showing at Japan, Tokyo Airport. Lead star is Fukada Kyoko (深田恭子)

After a short tour of Fuji TV Station. I did not meet with any artist there. Or seen any recording of the TV show. Bye Bye Fuji TV Station.

Next stop is the Diver City to see the Gundam here. There is a expensive entrance fee to see a short gundam movie and take photo with a 1:1 ratio Gundam Freedom here. But it is very expensive. I just take photo of the gundam model that is put on show here. A few special one is shown below.

Golden Gundam Akatsuki. Certainly the most beautiful and attractive gundam of all.

A gundam model setup here. I wonder how much effort is put to make these model looks so real. Gundam fans will love all these.

This is certainly the largest Gundam model. I forget what it is the name. Any Gundam fans that see this, can let me know?

Freedom Strike Gundam from the Gundam Seeds Destiny. Gundam Seeds is the only Gundam anime series that I watch. And many fans put this series as their favourites.

Gundam Wing from Gundam Wing Endless Waltz series. A very angelic form. The wing is added at the Endless Waltz series. Before that, Gundam Wing don't actually have any wings. Quite contradict with the name of the Gundam. But still Gundam Wing is another favourites series for Gundam Fans.

Not sure what Gundam is this but look at that big samurai sword. I wonder how the Gundam hide it. Or is it something like lightsaber, it can be switch off and on.

Next is go out of Diver City to the main entrance. Look for the Gundam Cafe. The heavy rain is still pouring but I come all the way from Malaysia for this. Nothing gonna stop me from taking the picture of the replica of Gundam.

The Front and the back of the Gundam robot. The robot will have some lightning effect and the head will turn during certain time of the day. The time when I choose to come to the robot is the best timing. So I stand for almost 5 minutes in the rain to see it.

When I done, I notice this broken umbrella near the door. Umbrella like this is given to the people for free. But it just can't stand the strong wind that is blowing on day like this.

Hello Kitty store (Again). Like I said earlier, Tokyo is full of these over cuteness stuff. So be prepare to have a good self control of yourself. Or you will end up bankrupt from visiting Japan.

Hello Kitty cake.

Next stop is the Mega Web - Toyota City Showcase.

Lets have a look of Toyota Prius from Japan.

Emm.. can't be sure what is the specification but the price is some where around RM110,000 in Japan and compare to almost RM140,000 selling price in Malaysia now.

An interesting car from Toyota. With a compartment for the wheelchair. Good as a family car for family with the elders.

Some future toys from Toyota. Including a wireless charger that recharge the vehicle and a chair that runs on motor and can do turning easily. Maybe in future human don't need to walk anymore and can go anywhere while sitting on the chair.

The night is getting colder and there is no sign that the rain gonna stop for me to take some nice photo. I rush out to open deck to take this photo. The photo of rainbow bridge with all the light on.

As I go back, I have another ramen for dinner at Shimbashi subway station. Not a good choice, but with the rain outside, I don't really have much choice.

Near the Ramen shop is another favourite of mine. Bread Papa cream puff. And this time I gonna have the most original kind that I can get to try.

The price is more expensive compare to Malaysia though. That is not something I am expecting. Because I always feel it should be cheaper in Japan.

But still I bought one in the end. Taste better compare to Malaysia. The texture and the aroma is smoother and stronger.
